Scotty

Scotty

Dear Emma

Scotty has slept through the last couple of nights with no problems and apart from a few puddles has been a breeze to look after.  I never considered the malting aspect, even though I researched so carefully before purchasing our first dog Sally.  I now find myself reconsidering my dark wardrobe.  Life should be a bit lighter and brighter anyway... Jim and I have each taken Sally and Scotty for early morning walks and the two of them on the lead are very well behaved together.   On the short walks to school (all the kids were so excited to see another new dog!) Hannah (4 1/2) and Josh (6) have insisted on walking Scotty in turns.  This has been for the afternoon pick up times and Scotty has yelped excitedly almost all the way to school.  I think he wants to spend more time there, so it's lucky we are so close because we'll be able to use the school ovals for exercise and fun.

Sally still hasn't stopped chasing Scotty around and playing - I am fairly sure she will eventually totally wear him down.  I do believe she may be losing her voice.  Both of them are responding well to requests to 'settle' and be 'easy' they are very quick learners.   The kids are fast learning to pick up their socks and shoes and put them away in bedrooms as once again we have a teething puppy in the house.  There is something good in Scotty for the whole family.

Scotty seems to like falling to sleep on his back with a cuddle.  He did this with Hannah on the way home for the first time on Sunday, and fell asleep with Jim watching Big Brother last night.  As I suspected, Scotty is no fonder of the dog beds and mats than Sally ever has been, so tries to make sure that he gets a spot on the beanbag first.  Sometimes he leaves room for the kids to cuddle up, but really wants the comfort all to himself.  I haven't yet seen Sally and Scotty cuddling up to sleep together, but Jim tells me that when he came out and peeked at them in the middle of the night he saw them cuddled up on the chair together.

Scotty seems to be a great fit into our lifestyle. Thanks to Emma and Jenny for the care you put into saving Scotty and getting him ready for us.
