Want To Help?
Melbourne Dog Rescue is dedicated to offering an alternative to euthanasia in pounds and shelters. Our members work very hard to save dogs....
[ Volunteers ]
At Melbourne dog rescue our dedicated volunteers are highly valued. Not having an actual shelter, we don't have many volunteer positions available, but we can still use your help.
- Become a volunteer foster carer
- Put up posters of our rescue dogs in the windows of your local dog groomer, vet, pet supply outlets (only those who sell no live animals), dog obedience clubs, training grounds, your local dog park/dog beach.
- Do a letter box drop of our flyers and dogs for adoption posters in your local area
- You can help by offering transport for rescue dogs; we always need help in this area. Even if it is to pick up a dog from a pound and deliver to a foster carer, do a home check before a possible adoption takes place (you will be advised on what to look for). Take a rescue dog to the vet, or to the groomer.
- Volunteer your time to walk some of our rescue dogs.
- Go into the pound and take photos and get details of dogs impounded.
If you would like to become a volunteer, please email rescue@melbournedogrescue.org.au for more information.
[ Donations ]
Melbourne Dog Rescue is dedicated to offering an alternative to euthanasia in pounds and shelters. Our members work very hard to save dogs. As nearly all of our rescue dogs come from the pound, we pay a fee to have them released. We also provide any extra vet work required to ensure our dogs will enjoy a happy healthy life, before being rehomed (at no extra cost to the adopter).
We are a non profit organisation and we rely on adoptions, donations and fund raising to keep rescuing these dogs:
- $10 buys one monthly worm/heartworm tablet.
- $30 covers microchipping of one dog.
- $45 covers 3 months of Flea/worm//tic prevention for one dog.
- $60 covers the transport fee for on rescue dog to be transported from a Victorian country pound.
- $55 covers a yearly C5 vaccination for one dog.
- $90 covers one -yearly membership at an obedience club (for our foster carers to take their foster dog to training when needed).
- $150 covers the desexing, vaccination, and microchipping of one male puppy.
- $205 covers the release fee for one dog from the pound.
